Saved by Mrs. Winterbourne

Ahh. . . my second post, at last! It should have been better if it were yesterday, Sept. 11. Why? Well, the first blog was Aug. 21, a date that is nationally and historically significant - the day Ninoy Aquino was shot to death at the airport tarmac, and also the time of the Plaza Miranda bombing - but of course, separated by some 12 years (1983 and 1971). . . and Sept. 11, that was the infamous 9/11 bombing in the US, but it's also the birthday of the famous Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

Enough of the should have beens ha-ha-ha. . . it's a Saturday, a cloudy and quite rainy day. I woke up with a throb in my head, an impending headache and a heavy lazy feeling. Just thankful that it's a non-working day else I'll be late again or worse, on sick leave.

But thanks to the movies on cable TV: HBO's "Mrs. Winterbourne", and Star Movies' "My Mom's New Boyfriend" - - they sort of saved my day. Brandon Fraser, Shirley McLaine and one Selma Hais star on Mrs. Winterbourne. It's a case of borrowed identities due to some train accident involving two pregnant women. Connie Doyle, the one who's had an irresponsible boyfriend, happened to be on the same train as the Winterbourne couple, the husband that of Brandon's character whose wife is also pregnant. Fate has it that just before the accident, Mrs. Winterbourne showed Connie her wedding ring which the latter tried to put on her finger - and at that point, the accident happened. . . in short, the Winterbourne couple died, but Connie has the identity of Mrs. Winterbourne, as she woke up in the hospital with a newborn baby boy - baby Winterbourne. . .

Much as she would like to explain to everyone about the mistaken identities, the chain of circumstances prevented her from doing so. She was chauffered to the Winterbourne place, there to find Grace, the mother of Mr. Winterbourne, and Bill, the identical twin of the dead Mr. Winterbourne who she learned now was named Hugh - and the name Grace later gave the baby. . . now, that's all for now for this blog - - this is already quite long. For you who happened to be caught in the story, well, I hope you still can catch the movie on HBO, or maybe you can buy its VCD on sale (or maybe a pirated DVD ha-ha!!). I hope to continue this later, promise (?).

All I can say for now is, in all that happens in our life, there is always a reason, a very good reason.
